Fire ban From 29 June there is an outdoor fire ban on Holmön due to the warm and dry weather. The ban also apply to fires in constructed fire places and is valid for the time being. It will be used for Sanna, the ferry that will transport the gravel crush

Seal season begins
During late winter, seal females leave their offspring (seal pups) alone on the ice to take care of themselves. The pups have a thick fat layer and can last for week without food. Instinctively they crawl southwards. Nothing will stop them, not the ferry, nor land. Sometimes, like this morning, they pass the track at the same time as the ferry that has to give way. The "right-rule" also apply at sea. Some times you can find pups in the fields on the island or in the forest. In the summer you can see seals in the waters around Stora Fjäderägg and along the east side of Holmöarna. 09-04-15 |

Ferry break down. There has been an hydraulic leakage and the ferry need repair. The ferry tour today at 17.30 from Norrfjärden is cancelled, as well as coming tours until the ferry is repaired. Oil is leaking out into the sea and the ferry is not allowed to operate. The propulsion aggregate has to be exchanged with a new one and that work is expected to take two day and can start first after Easter. This means that there will not be any ferry communication during Easter weekend. meeting on Holmön 21 March
We are pleased over the positive attitude to the project and for the agreements that were settled at the meeting. We recieve new signed contacts with the mail every day and we are of course pleased that so many already have decided to participate. This means that we soon will be able to apply for building permit for the wind measuring mast. We hope to erect it during the coming summer. You who have decided to sign the contacts but not yet done so are reminded that you should not only sign on the last page but also put your signature at the top of each page. Now, when we have finalized the negotiations with the land owners, the project goes into a new phase. A first meeting will be held some time in May-June. During the coming time we will work on clarifications regarding recieved viewpoints on the project. On May 18, Helena Elisabeth will depart as planned to Luleå for a visit at a shipyard. During the absence, M/S Öfararen will traffic Holmöleden. The unanimous meeting and signing of contracts have given Slitevind confidence to carry on with the projects on Holmön/Ängesön. Slitevind feels a positive spirit for this projects, not only by the landowners but also by islanders and involved authorities. Now we hope for an almost 100 % participation to get this project financially solid and make all feel as participants and that they can take some advantage of the project. A consultation meeting with islanders and the general public will be held on Holmön in springtime. We hurry slowly without haste and want to handle all questions that occur in the beast of ways.

Norrland week with song
festival Thursday 5/2, Birgitta Fritzdotter called to a meeting on request from Johan Nyberg, who wished to meet and discuss future activities. Representatives from Holmöns Ungdomsgårdsorganisation (Youth association), Holmöns Hembygds- och Intresseförening (Folklore association), Holmöns Utvecklings forum (Development forum), Holmö Havsbad, Båtmuseets Vänner (Boat museum), Fyrvaktaren and the smak och tycke gruppen (taste and opinion group) från Holmön. Togehter a proposition was made: Holmön with its unique surrounding and historical culture is commonly only known for the poor communications, beautiful nature and the song festival. With this project, we wish to create positivism and show that Holmön is so much more than above mentioned. We shall offer all visitors an experience of all that Holmön can offer. To be exposed and recognized, we came up with the concept "Norrlandsveckan med visfestivalen" (Norrland week with the song festival). This is amied to be an annual recurrent event that ends with the song festival. The document with proposals for what this week can be comprised of is being developed but is still in its infancy. After more than an hour, the ferry reached the ice wall at the drifting ice area. The ice pressure in the drifting ice is so strong that the ferry cannot pass.
