The
High Coast
poems from
a World Heritage Site
|
{…} The High Coast is situated within the municipalities of Kramfors
and Örnsköldsvik. It is about an 85 kilometres long stretch of coast
from the estuary of Ångermanälven river in the south to its northern
point at Skags’ cape.
The archipelago area contains about 70 off-shore islands and the whole size
of the World heritage area is 140,000 hectares (about 350 000 acres) of which
at last half of it are wetlands including a marine component of 80.000 ha.{…} |

Translated
by Anders Edlund, Örnsköldsvik, with the support of Alan M Bills,
Beaumont, Texas USA.
Mr. Bills visited Örnsköldsvik and the High Coast in January 1977
and in June 1980. So, he has seen our town in the winter and in the summer.
He has made walks in the forest and on our rocky coastline, so he is somewhat
familiar with our High Coast.
However, he is sure that anyone who reads these poems will be able to picture
the beautiful landscapes which the author has painted in words.
